WALPOLE, MA — Express Hockey Club forward Finn Ernsjöö has committed to the University of Southern Maine (USM) for the fall of 2024.
The ’03 is originally from Sweden, but resides in New York City, had a notable journey in the Eastern Hockey League (EHL) over the past two seasons. In the 2023-24 season, Ernsjöö played 38 games, recording 12 points with one goal and 11 assists. During the 2022-23 season, he played 43 games, with 29 points with nine goals and 20 assists.
“Finn was an absolute pleasure to coach the past two seasons,” said Express head coach Nic Cota. “His game has grown so much since he came to the US. I’m so happy to see him join a few former Express players at USM. Congratulations to the Ernsjöö family. Finn’s smile will be missed at the Express, but we can’t wait to see his success in college.”
Ernsjöö will be joining the Southern Maine Huskies, reuniting with teammate Gavin Simopoulos from the Express Hockey Club. Additionally, he will join other EHL alumni, including Danny Caputo from the Boston Jr. Terriers, Angel Montanez from the Bridgewater Bandits, Ryan Pappalardo from the New Hampshire Avalanche, and Isaac Grondin from the Vermont Lumberjacks. This group of skilled players will bring considerable talent and experience to the Huskies.
“After two fun and eventful seasons with the Express Hockey Club, I would like to thank everyone in the Express organization – Coach Cota and Coach Kyle for believing in me, for teaching me a lot on and off the ice and for their efforts helping me advance to the college level,” said Ernsjöö. “I would also like to thank GM Todd Stirling for his involvement in me ending up playing for the Express. I had two great seasons with the team. What stands out the most is the camaraderie in and around the team. I felt welcome right away, and I have formed many great friendships. Thanks to all my teammates! I’m super excited for the next four years at the University of Southern Maine, and I will do my best to make the Express organization proud!”
