Walpole, MA — The Express Hockey Club are proud to announce the commitment of Marcus Torgner to the University of Southern Maine. Located in Portland, ME, the Huskies play in the NEHC.
The ’03 forward from Mjolby, Sweden will join Express teammate and defenseman Adrian Jubran at USM, which is also Express Head Coach Nic Cota’s alma mater.
Torgner expressed his gratitude for being afforded the chance to play hockey in the states.
“I want to start by thanking my parents for allowing me the opportunity to come here to the US and play hockey for the Express, and to my billet family for their continuous support,” said Marcus. “The Express organization has been nothing but great to me. Coach Cota and Coach Kyle have given me so much support and guidance to help me grow and develop as a hockey player and as a person. The coaches and my teammates really made this year special. I am super excited to become a Husky and to start my college career at Southern Maine!”
With 11 goals and 8 assists during the season, and another 3 points in five post season games, Marcus was a big part of the Express success.
“Down the stretch and into the playoffs, Marcus really found his game,” said Head Coach Nic Cota. “He was an important member of the team for us both on and off the ice. Southern Maine is definitely getting a good one.”
Congratulations to Marcus and the Torgner family. The entire Express organization looks forward to following your career.
