Billy Whitfield

U18 PHL

Billy Whitfield, a Northeastern University alum, won two Beanpots, as well as the Unsung Hero award for his unselfish sportsmanship and team-first attitude. He also was named assistant captain his senior year, an impressive feat considering he was a walk-on. More impressive: while playing four years of high-level college hockey he earned a degree in electrical engineering.

In addition, Whitfield hit the minor league pro circuit, lacing up for the ECHL-Virginia Lancers/Roanoke Valley Rebels. He was team captain and assistant coach for five seasons, as well as 1st Team All-Star for three seasons (‘87-‘90). Other accolades include 1989-1990 League Best Defenseman, and 1987 League Champion.

As a coach, he’s currently the assistant for Walpole High School’s JV and varsity teams. Previously, he coached Natick High School JV and varsity from 2001-2005.
